Still Running Through Pain — Or Afraid to Run at All?
Most runners don't fail because they're not tough enough. They fail because the care they received wasn't built for runners.
Rushed & Generic Care
You spend 30 minutes with a tech, get handed a printout of exercises, and leave with no real answers. Generic PT wasn't designed for the demands of running — and your body knows it.
No Clear Return-to-Running Path
You're told to 'rest and see how it feels,' but no one tells you when you're actually ready to run again. Without objective benchmarks, you're guessing — and risking re-injury.
The Same Injury Keeps Coming Back
Plantar fasciitis, IT band pain, shin splints, Achilles flare-ups — if you've treated the symptom but never addressed the root cause, the cycle won't stop on its own.

Your Path Back to Running Starts with Three Simple Steps
Step 1 — Get a Full Running Assessment
Step 2 — Train 1-on-1 with a Running-Specialist PT
Step 3 — Return to Running with Confidence
Your first 60-minute session includes a thorough evaluation of your movement patterns, strength, and running mechanics. We identify the root cause — not just the symptom — and build a personalized plan from day one.
Every session is hands-on with a licensed physical therapist. We combine manual therapy, dry needling, targeted exercise progressions, and running-specific rehab to resolve your injury and rebuild your performance.
Before you're cleared to run, we use objective force plate testing and return-to-running benchmarks to confirm you're truly ready — not just feeling okay. You leave stronger, more resilient, and with a plan to stay there.

Juli
"I am so very grateful to Dana!!! An injury is hard enough for a young athlete (13) and PT can be discouraging at times. Dana never let him quit when he felt weak, always had quick witty comebacks for his teenage sarcasm and pushed him when needed. Their one on one approach at Shore Elite is by far the best. He was able to return to sports much quicker and stronger than before!!"

"My recovery from a neck fracture and multiple other injuries would not be where it is today without Ashley and Dana. Their knowledge and approach to my mobility, pain management and consistent overall improvement is truly exceptional. I would not even consider trusting my healing to anyone else!"

"Ashley was a huge part of my team in helping me prepare and fix my hip flexor situation, for my first 100 Mile Ultra Trail Marathon finish. During that run I tore my right calf muscle, met once a week to work on it, and 5-6 weeks later I was running the JFK50 mile for my fourth finish, no pain, the calf had healed, no issues."

Running PT — Your Questions Answered
Everything you need to know before your first visit to Shore Elite.
Do I need a physician referral to start running physical therapy at Shore Elite?
No. Maryland is a direct-access state, which means you can begin physical therapy without a doctor's referral. You can call us, book a free injury screening, or schedule a free 15-minute phone consult and get started right away.
What happens during my first visit?
Your first session is a full 60-minute, 1-on-1 evaluation with a licensed physical therapist. We'll assess your movement patterns, running mechanics, strength, and any areas of pain or limitation to identify the root cause — not just the symptom. Many patients begin hands-on treatment during that very first session.
How is Shore Elite different from other PT clinics near me?
Every session at Shore Elite is 60 minutes, 1-on-1 with a licensed physical therapist — double the industry standard. You'll never be passed off to a tech or aide, and we never double-book. Our running physical therapy program uses objective tools like running gait analysis and force plate testing to track your progress and confirm when you're truly ready to return to running.
Do you offer running gait analysis?
Yes. We perform detailed running gait analysis and functional movement assessments as part of our running physical therapy program. This helps us pinpoint biomechanical contributors to your injury and build a more targeted, effective treatment plan.
How do you know when I'm ready to return to running?
We use objective return-to-sport and return-to-running testing — including force plate testing — to benchmark your strength, symmetry, and movement quality before clearing you to run. This takes the guesswork out of recovery and significantly reduces your risk of re-injury.
